Enterprise Video Surveillance System Enhances Security at Selfreliance Credit Union

Selfreliance Federal Credit Union is a member-owned, not-for-profit financial cooperative headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. Founded in 1951 with roots in the Ukrainian-American community, it operates with a mission to strengthen the financial well-being of its membership and support community growth across multiple states. As a cooperative, Selfreliance returns value to members through competitive rates, personalized service, and community-focused initiatives grounded in cooperative principles.

The Challenge

Selfreliance needed a centralized security solution to monitor 15 branch locations across the country from one central hub. Key objectives included streamlining the management of its disparate video surveillance systems, ensuring compliance with Payment Card Industry (PCI) standards, and improving overall security across all branches. In addition, Selfreliance Credit Union was looking for a security partner that could provide an ongoing support plan to ensure that their video management system has minimum downtime and is always up-to-date with the latest software.

The Solution

To achieve this, the customer partnered with Linx Security for an enterprise-wide security camera system installation. Linx Security designed and deployed a comprehensive Avigilon Unity on-premise system across all branch locations. To ensure compliance with PCI regulations, Linx Security provided calculated the proper hard-drive storage needs based on the number of cameras, resolution of cameras, and anticipated activity for each individual branch.

High-resolution security cameras were installed in lobbies, ATMs, teller stations, and common areas; maximizing coverage and enhancing security. With an enterprise video management system, the customer can now monitor all branches, adjust user settings, and modify access rights across all locations from a single, centralized platform.

Linx Security provided Selfreliance with a custom comprehensive maintenance support plan, which included: Quarterly firmware updates, 24/7 system health monitoring, annual preventative maintenance, and onsite support as needed. As a result, Selfreliance can rest assured that their video security system is properly managed, allowing them to focus on what matters most – its mission and its members.

The Results

By standardizing and unifying its video surveillance system, the customer has significantly improved security operations and regulatory compliance. The ability to manage and monitor all locations from a single platform has streamlined security administration, reduced inefficiencies, and ensured consistent oversight.
